Today was a low-energy sort of day. I felt tired, but still worked on my copy. My main task for the morning was to repaint the head, because it was too small - it made the 7-year-old child look more like an adult. By lunchtime I had obliterated the face I had painted before, and made the head and hat larger - more in the correct proportion for a child. I worked on the satin jacket, repainting the highlighted areas with a warmer, yellower color. I'm still not sure if it's correct. I painted over most of the sky, because it has a lot more gray than blue. I also worked on the white skirt. Then it was time for lunch.
After lunch I worked on the landscape, made her left arm shorter and the hand smaller, and worked on the face, then I ran out of steam and left early.
I think her head still looks like it belongs to an older person. Maybe mine is too thin. My favorite part so far are the three little white marks I made for the ribbons on her skirt. Next time I'll work more on the skirt and add all the white ribbon that runs around it. This is one of those copies that I probably won't take all the way, but we'll see.
